Controlling Dog Shedding Through Brushing

It is needless to say that dog hair should stay on the dog and not on our sofas. The problem is that it often ends up on furniture, especially during those hot summer months. Shedding is a natural process for our dogs and it is a part of his life, although him loosing hair on our chairs and carpets is not really something that we love. The good news is that there are various techniques that you can do in order to minimize the mess caused by hair loss, controlling dog shedding.

First off, you need to know that you have to choose the right brush for your companion. For instance, a furry Alsation will need a different brush when compared to a smooth coated Beagle. In order to make sure that you make the right choice you can do two things. You should either real the label of the dog brush or you can ask someone that knows best, a friend or maybe even the salesperson or shopkeeper.

You have to brush the dog's coat deeply in order to allow the bristles to rub against his skin. If you do this you will notice that more hair will be removed because of the fact that dog fur will loosen at the hair follicle. Deep brushing allows you to remove the hair that is to fall in the near future and not only the one that needs to fall at the moment of brushing. Do not overdue it! If the dog is not comfortable do not press harder as you need only reach the skin level. Harder brushes will not do anything more than make the dog nervous. Also, keep in mind that static electricity can become a problem as the dog's coat will cause static when brushing it in dry weather. The end result will be shock to you both and neither of you will enjoy that. Use anti-static spray! You can find it in superstores and will make brushing your dog a lot easier.

When you brush the dog you also need to reverse direction. Just start in one area and then work backwards. Stop if this bothers him although it is useful when you can as brushing against the regular direction of natural growth will aid in shedding hair that is to fall before it actually falls. All will appear on your brush instead of your sofa.

After you brush your dog you should also use a rubber grooming mitten in order to take in hairs that are left behind. Your dog will surely enjoy the massage and there are specially designed rubber nubs that will capture extra fur while making your dog feel well. Never forget to use a gentle non-drying canine shampoo when bathing your dog and always do this on a regular basis. You should know that sensitive skin shampoos for dogs are great as they aid in moisturizing skin and will discourage over-shedding. Finish everything with a good dog conditioner, follow all these tips and you will see that dog shedding will not be as big of a problem as before.

Pomeranian Dog Facts

Well, as soon as you hear Pomeranian you should think of a fox-like rabbit meaning a wedge-shaped head and tiny pointed erect ears that resemble those of a fox. Also, the Pomeranian is a toy-dog breed because of its size, measuring 3 to 7 lb (1.4 to 3 kg). The American Kennel Club recognizes only the dogs that are cubby, meaning they are as tall as they are wide. If you can’t understand try to picture the dog inside a square or inside a circle, meaning the Pomeranian should be a balanced dog which fits together logically and in proportion.

The main thing that stands out in a Pomeranian is its coat, being its pride and glory. The American Kennel Club is recognizing well over thirteen colors or color combination ranging from black, black & tan, blue, blue & tan, chocolate all the way to orange, red, red sable, and sable.

As a small history, the Pomeranians originated from the sled dogs of northern Lapland and they were brought into Europe in Pomerania. At first the breeders concentrated their attention only on improving the coat and training the dogs for city living and not paying too much attention on the size. But when the breed reached English breeder hands, with the help of trial and error experiments and also Mendelean theories, it didn’t take long for it to reach the current size. The Pomeranians started gaining popularity with the high nobility only when Queen Charlotte and her granddaughter Victoria returned from a vacation from Italy with one little dog called Marco which was from the Pomeranian family.

Considering the shape of the dog a lot of people consider the Pomeranian intelligent and also has an alert character but they also behave accordingly. They do need a lot of attention and at times they can be quite stubborn. Even though at times they seem to think they are bigger then in reality and don’t back out of a challenge of attacking a bigger dog they definitely don’t make good guard dogs but considering their active personality and loud bark they make for a perfect watch dog.
Also, if you are considering getting your Pomeranian in shape and groomed you should realize that like all the other toy breeds they tend to have a problem with bad teeth and also you should take care of its coat on a weekly basis. But most importantly being a loyal dog they tend to follow the master from room to room therefore they do need extensive training in order not to meddle around people’s feet because they can be stepped on with ease and being such a tiny dog they get injured easily.

Groom your Dog

Fancy restaurants, shopping for fashionable clothing, hair dresser or barber shops – we’ve all been there, pampering ourselves to minimize the daily stress. A nice manicure, a new pair of shoes or a new hair style is brightening up your day, doesn’t it? Well, if it suites you, why should your pet miss out on all that after a long day of relaxing you or playing with the kids when you’re too tired to do that?

Your pet needs pampering too, you know! Nowadays there are a lot of grooming shops for your dog, which have the sole purpose of treating him as royalty, with the finest styling programs. When entering such a saloon, your dog is taken by a member of the staff in order to prepare him for the treatments. Rest assured, all employees are animal lovers so besides getting a better look, your pet will also receive affection and attention.

First comes the brushing, to get rid of all that nasty excess hair and surely your pet won’t mind the extra time to be brushed even more than at home. After this, a stress free bath is necessary and then you can choose a hair style for him from a catalog suitable for each breed, or you can come up with one yourself and have a unique dog! Bows and sparkles, curls or punk style – your dog can have a new image in minutes and like you, will feel more pleased when walking down the street!

It’s time for the manicure, better known for doggies as nail trimming. No more bad nails that urge your pet to ravish everything in the house; he will feel calmer and spend that time playing! Now, don’t you want to get rid of your dog’s bad breath? In the grooming shop this is possible and besides fresher breath, your companion will be bacteria free, too!

Besides this pampering, your dog can receive, if requested, a massage, special dog cakes or skin treatments. After all this, your pet will be very pleased to be living a doggy life, happier to play or to catch the Frisbee in the park! What you should know is that grooming is not only about styling; it is also important for your dog’s health, and nothing makes his fur shinier than a healthy skin.
